Your new partial will effectively restore the function and appearance of multiple lost teeth in one area of your mouth. With a few minor modifications in your daily habits and oral hygiene routine, it can last for a long time to come.
Many people with a partial like to use denture adhesive to give it a very firm hold, while at the same time helping to block out food particles. If a few residual food particles do manage to work their way into the space between the partial and your gums, you should thoroughly rinse your partial to create a smooth surface for reapplying. When you take your partial out each night, you should rinse it clean to give you a smooth surface to which to reapply the denture adhesive the next day.
You should then brush your partial with a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste or denture polish. You should soak your partial overnight in water and keep it in a safe place.
Once your partial is put away, you should then brush and floss your teeth, per your regular oral hygiene routine. It is especially important to floss around the gum line of the teeth surrounding your partial.
